The Bihar government has initiated a seed distribution campaign to ensure timely provision of certified and improved seeds to farmers for the Kharif (autumn) crop sowing. Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister, Vijay Kumar Sinha, has issued clear instructions to make all crop seeds available to farmers by June 20th. He outlined specific distribution targets for the Kharif season of 2025, including 30,000 quintals of hybrid paddy seeds, 30,069 quintals of high-yielding paddy varieties, 9,500 quintals of hybrid maize, and 9,740 quintals of pigeon pea. Timely distribution of these seeds will provide farmers with opportunities for profitable farming during the Kharif season. The distribution process will be transparent and tailored to the needs of farmers, with district-wise targets set by the Department of Agriculture to ensure timely seed supply. The Deputy CM has appealed to farmers to use the improved and certified seeds distributed by the department and to increase production through scientific farming methods. This initiative represents another significant step towards realizing the vision of a developed Bihar with prosperous farmers.
