The Bihar government has introduced online services to simplify access to essential documents. Citizens can now apply for ration cards online from the comfort of their homes, eliminating the need for long queues. This initiative, spearheaded by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, streamlines the process and benefits women and the elderly in particular. The digital portal, accessible via Rconline.bihar.gov.in, allows users to register and apply, making the process more efficient and transparent. Under the ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ scheme, cardholders can obtain food grains from any ration shop within or outside the state. Ration cards also entitle beneficiaries to subsidized food under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana, including 35 kg of food grains for eligible families and 5 kg per person for priority households. The online application process requires uploading necessary documents like Aadhaar cards and bank passbooks. This move by the government aims to save time and resources while ensuring transparency in the ration card application process.
