A 5-hour shutdown has been called in Bihar on September 4th in response to the verbal abuse directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother, Heeraben, during a rally in Darbhanga. The protest, organized by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), will commence at 7 AM and conclude at 12 PM. The incident occurred during Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s voter rights campaign, where offensive language was used from the stage. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies have strongly condemned the act, making it a significant issue and prompting the statewide shutdown. The NDA’s women’s wing will play a prominent role in the shutdown. According to Bihar BJP state president, Dilip Jaiswal, the abuse was not just an insult to Modi’s mother but to all mothers in the country. Efforts will be made to minimize inconvenience to the general public during the shutdown. Essential services like hospitals, ambulances, and railways will be exempt.
