In a bizarre turn of events that has exposed potential flaws in Bihar’s electoral roll verification process, a dog was issued a residence certificate, with its parents listed as ‘Kutta Babu’ and ‘Kutiya Devi.’ The certificate, generated through the state’s official RTPS portal in Masaurhi, Patna, included the dog’s photograph and address. This incident, part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, has raised serious concerns about the security of the online system. The digital signature of a Revenue Officer on the document further complicates matters, leading to a formal probe into possible credential misuse. Authorities are investigating how supporting documents from a Delhi-based woman were used to create the certificate, fueling suspicions of unauthorized access and manipulation of the government portal.
