Preparations for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections are in full swing. In this regard, Chief Election Commissioner, along with the two election commissioners, will visit Bihar on October 4th and 5th to review the election preparations. They will hold meetings with the Chief Electoral Officer and other state officials to discuss the arrangements for the elections.
Before the Chief Election Commissioner’s visit to Bihar, a meeting of observers appointed by the commission will be held in Delhi on Friday. All election observers, police, and other officials will participate in this meeting. Generally, the dates of the elections are announced after a visit by a full member of the Election Commission to any state. Therefore, it is believed that the announcement of the Bihar elections could be made anytime after October 5th.
The Election Commission has decided to deploy a total of 470 officers, including 320 IAS and 60 IPS officers, as central observers for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. These observers will also be deployed for the by-elections to be held in 8 other states besides Bihar. The meeting on Friday will be held at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM) in Dwarka at 10 AM.
