A controversy has ignited in a school in Begusarai, Bihar, concerning the teaching of Urdu. A newly appointed Urdu teacher alleges that the school principal and other teachers are preventing him from teaching the language and are subjecting him to harassment and humiliation. Students, along with their parents, have lodged a complaint with the District Education Officer against the principal and other teachers. The District Education Officer has assured a personal investigation into the matter. The dispute centers around the राजकीय मध्य विद्यालय Pahasara of the Navkothi block in Begusarai district. Mohammad Aavid was appointed as an Urdu teacher through the government’s BPSC TRE-3 initiative. Upon his appointment, Mohammad Aavid requested to teach Urdu to Muslim students. However, the principal and other teachers reportedly denied providing separate classes for Urdu. The Urdu teacher has cited his appointment as a reason to demand Urdu classes, which led to escalating tensions. The teacher claims that despite his appointment on May 15th, he was subjected to inhumane and offensive behavior by the principal on June 27th. He has filed written complaints to the Governor, DM, and the education department, among others. The teacher claims that the principal threatened to remove the students’ names from the rolls in retaliation for the department seeking an explanation from the principal. He has been teaching for eight hours but has not been allowed to conduct any Urdu classes. He is demanding a fair investigation into the entire matter.
