Consequences of Skipping Mandatory Aadhaar Updates for Kids

If parents do not update a child’s biometrics at the required ages, the Aadhaar number itself stays the same but the stored fingerprint and iris templates become outdated. This mismatch leads to authentication failures whenever a fingerprint or iris check is needed, such as claiming subsidies, completing school admissions, or completing KYC for a bank account. Delayed updates may also attract a fee prescribed by UIDAI, adding an unnecessary cost to families that could have been avoided by complying on time.
