In Bihar, following alleged derogatory language used against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a Congress rally, supporters of BJP leader and Legislative Council member Surendra Choudhary used a picture of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as a step. Surendra Choudhary stated that Rahul Gandhi’s actions warranted such treatment of his photograph, even suggesting plans to use his image in tissue paper. He added that Rahul Gandhi does not understand what he says. This follows the use of offensive words against PM Modi and his late mother.
In response to the offensive remarks during Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Rights Yatra,’ BJP workers marched to the state Congress headquarters, sparking a confrontation. The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha asserted that truth always prevails. The individual who allegedly made the offensive remarks was arrested in Darbhanga, while BJP workers marched to the Sadaqat Ashram, the state Congress headquarters, leading to a clash with Congress members.
Nitin Naveen, a state minister, leading the march from the BJP office, stated that the party would not tolerate insults against Prime Minister Modi and demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi, his party, and their allies. Gandhi alluded to the clash in a post, writing that truth and non-violence cannot be overcome by falsehood and violence, and that they would continue to defend truth and the constitution.
Congress General Secretary Sachin Pilot stated that anyone who used offensive language deserved condemnation, but it was wrong to connect the incident to the Congress and the INDIA alliance. He condemned the attack on the party’s state headquarters, expressing hope for appropriate action against the perpetrators by the Bihar government. He implied the BJP was agitated by the success of the Voter Rights Yatra.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) spokesperson Manoj Jha criticized the incident, while also questioning if the BJP had ever apologized for offensive remarks made by their own leaders, including the Prime Minister. Manoj Jha claimed this was a publicity stunt by the BJP.
Congress General Secretary (Organization) K.C. Venugopal, in a post on X, said that the BJP was trying to intimidate them, and that the attack on the party office in Patna was a cowardly act. He urged the Bihar police to take strict action against those responsible.
