Police Probe Dalokala Border as Hub for Minor‑Led Liquor Trafficking

The Dalokala crossing near the Bihar‑West Bengal border has long been flagged as a gateway for contraband liquor. Recent raids indicate that the route is now being used by a network that includes minors and teenage girls. Smugglers hide bottles inside school bags, tuck them under bicycle seats or slip them into regular garments to avoid detection. Geographic proximity to districts such as Purnia, Katihar, Kishanganj and Araria provides both challenges and opportunities for traffickers, making coordinated inter‑district action essential.

Compounding the problem, four police officers attached to the Dalokala outpost and a customs checkpoint supervisor have been taken into custody on suspicion of colluding with the smugglers. Investigators allege that these officials facilitated the movement of alcohol by providing false clearances and turning a blind eye to the illicit cargo.
