Local Community Beats Up Rapist Before Police Custody in Darbhanga

A two‑year‑old child became the victim of a brutal rape in a rural area of Darbhanga, Bihar. The accused, aged 48, allegedly tricked the girl by offering to show her a fair and then took her to a mango garden about 200 metres from her house, where the assault occurred.

Residents who arrived at the scene after hearing the child's distress seized the man, battered him severely, and subsequently handed him over to law‑enforcement officials.

The toddler was rushed to the nearest medical facility with bleeding injuries. Doctors stabilized her, and she remains hospitalized under careful surveillance.

Police have formally arrested the suspect, recorded his statements, and are pursuing the case with assistance from senior officers.
