Expelled From JDU, Anant Singh Says Public Is His Master
Patna: A day of expected celebration turned into a political storm for Mokama MLA Anant Singh after the Janata Dal (United) expelled him for six years. The party announced the decision on Saturday, October 24, citing anti-party activities.
The expulsion came after the Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) candidate Anuj Kumar Singh emerged victorious in the Bihar Legislative Council elections. Singh had been planning festivities at his residence when the news of his expulsion surfaced.
According to the party, Singh breached discipline by defying directions, using improper and disrespectful language against the top leadership, and working against the official JDU candidate in the council polls. The order also said he had campaigned for a candidate of another party during the elections.
Umesh Singh Kushwaha, JDU Bihar state president, issued the order cancelling Singh's primary membership with immediate effect. The party has further sought the disqualification of Singh from the Bihar Legislative Assembly under the Tenth Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
Former MLA Neelam Devi was also expelled for six years and her primary membership was terminated.
Responding to the decision, Singh said he felt no grief and accepted the action without any problem. He said that the public was the real master and that the party belonged to Nitish Kumar. He argued that with Nitish Kumar no longer in the party, its existence had ended. He added that people would give their verdict on those who acted against them, and that he would continue to stay as he was.
