In Patna, Bihar, a man posing as an IPS officer has been apprehended by the Phulwari Sharif police for allegedly extorting money from people. The accused, identified as Asrar Ahmed, a resident of Phulwari Sharif, was arrested following a raid based on a tip-off. He would deceive people by claiming to be an ADG-rank officer.
Ahmed reportedly claimed he was stationed at the police headquarters. He is also accused of interfering in land disputes and threatening individuals. A case has been filed against him under several serious charges. Authorities revealed Ahmed used mobile phones and emails to defraud people.
He is believed to have defrauded over half a dozen people, including a government employee. Ahmed would intimidate and threaten people, posing as an ADG-rank officer, and then extort money.
The police are investigating the extent of the fraud network. After questioning, the accused has been sent to judicial custody. The police are gathering information about potential victims and conducting a thorough investigation.
