Family Demands Justice After Fatal Assault Linked to Superstition
A tragic clash rooted in superstition unfolded in Muzaffarpur’s Kachhi Pakki police checkpoint on Sunday. Neighbours, convinced that a 52-year-old woman practiced jadu-tona, assaulted her with sticks, leaving her gravely wounded.
Paramedics transported the victim to Sadar Hospital, where she was evaluated and then referred to Shri Krishna Medical College and Hospital for specialised care. The relatives, however, shifted her to a private medical facility in the city, where she eventually passed away.
Outraged villagers and the woman’s family placed her dead body in front of the accused’s residence, staging a protest that called for immediate accountability. Police later retrieved the remains for a post-mortem.
DSP (Cyber) Himanshu Kumar confirmed that a comprehensive probe is underway. The forensic team from the state’s science laboratory has examined the crime scene, and the police anticipate registering an FIR once a formal written complaint is received.
