Finance Ministry orders zero fees on UPI transfers up to Rs 2,000

A new circular released by the Finance Ministry makes it clear that no bank or payment gateway can charge users for UPI payments of up to two thousand rupees. The order also applies to purchases and withdrawals done through RuPay debit cards. By invoking Section 10A of the 2007 Payment and Settlement Systems Act, the government seeks to keep small‑value digital transactions cost‑free for the public.
