Four Young Men Die After Toxic Drink; Investigation Points to Revenge Plot

A grim incident in Bedhna village, part of Bihar’s flood‑stricken region, claimed the lives of four young men who drank a spiked alcoholic mixture. While the first assessment hinted at accidental poisoning, police now allege a calculated murder driven by a love‑related grudge.

Rural Superintendent of Police Kundan Kumar promptly constituted a Special Investigation Team comprising senior officers from neighboring stations and a DIU squad. The team secured forensic evidence by sending both the victims' samples and the leftover liquor to the Forensic Science Laboratory for toxicological testing.

Lali Kumar, identified as the chief perpetrator, allegedly invited the quartet for a drinking session and introduced a poisonous agent into the liquor before serving it. The victims, including Nishu Kumar, quickly fell ill and died despite emergency medical care.

Investigators uncovered a motive linked to a romantic entanglement. Nishu had been in a relationship with Lali’s sister for more than two years, a fact that reportedly fueled animosity between the two families. Lali is accused of planning retaliation, enlisting the assistance of a vegetable seller named Rudal Kumar, who is believed to have supplied the toxic substance.

Both Lali Kumar and Rudal Kumar have been arrested, and a minor alleged accomplice is currently being detained for further interrogation. Police await the forensic lab’s findings to confirm the exact poison and strengthen the homicide charge.

The case brings attention to the dangers of illicit liquor in rural parts of Bihar and how personal disputes can rapidly turn lethal.
