Himachal‑Uttarakhand Brace for Strong Winds and Heavy Rain

The hilly regions of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand have been placed under a high‑alert situation. In Himachal, districts such as Chamoli, Dehradun, Pithoragarh, Paudi Garhwal, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Nainital are all expected to experience heavy rainfall accompanied by strong thunderstorms.

Wind speeds of 50‑55 km/h are likely, raising the risk of landslides and road blockages on mountain passes. The IMD also issued a yellow rain alert for several districts in Jammu & Kashmir.

Authorities in the affected areas have been instructed to keep emergency services on standby and to inform the public about possible evacuations in vulnerable valleys.

Meanwhile, the capital city continues to enjoy clear skies, with no rain forecast until September 25.
