The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning for several districts in Odisha, including Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, predicting heavy rain and strong winds. The warning, effective until 7:10 PM on Tuesday, indicates the possibility of moderate rain, thunderstorms, and lightning, with surface wind speeds reaching 30-40 kmph in areas like Cuttack, Kendrapara, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), and Sundargarh. The weather agency’s midday bulletin also forecasts heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms in Sundargarh, Sambalpur, and Jharsuguda. The low-pressure area, which originated over Gangetic West Bengal and north Odisha, has now shifted to Jharkhand and is expected to move west-northwestwards in the next 24 hours. Heavy rain is also expected in several other districts until July 5.
