King Cobra Encounter in West Champaran Ends with Heroic Rescue and Bite

West Champaran’s Valmikinagar block witnessed a rare incident when a venomous king cobra, measuring about three metres, entered a household in Bisha’s Baghicha Tola area. The family’s alarm attracted nearby villagers, who quickly called the district’s most experienced snake rescuer, Janki Devi.

Janki approached the scene with caution, eventually subduing the cobra and securing it for transport. She informed forest officials so the reptile could be returned to its habitat.

While moving the snake toward a release zone, the animal slipped and bit Janki. Emergency services rushed her to a dedicated snake‑bite treatment facility in Nepal’s Triveni region. After receiving antivenom, her health has improved and she is under observation.

Janki, affectionately known as “Snake Lady”, has rescued hundreds of poisonous snakes throughout her career. This episode adds to her history of surviving multiple bites, yet she remains committed to wildlife rescue.
