Lakhisarai Couple’s Seven‑Round Wedding Highlights Traditional Rituals

The traditional Indian wedding customs were on full display in Lakhisarai when 60‑year‑old Pinku Singh and 23‑year‑old Varsha Rani completed their seven‑round (saptapadi) ceremony. The mandap was adorned with floral garlands, and the couple performed each of the seven vows in sequence, symbolising partnership, prosperity, and longevity.

The event was streamed live, and the video soon trended on social media. While many viewers were drawn to the ceremony’s cultural richness, the significant age difference between the spouses also became a focal point of discussion.

Pinku Singh, who sustains his family through agriculture and occasional manual work, lost his first wife ten years ago. Since then, he has lived alone until meeting Varsha. The bride, a student pursuing her graduation, previously married in Kalyanpur, Munger district, where she gave birth to a daughter. Her first husband abandoned the family after a fire incident at his in‑laws’ home.

The local sarpanch reiterated that the marriage is a private decision and offered his blessings. With the traditional rituals concluded, the newlyweds have embarked on a life together, blending age‑old customs with modern personal choice.
