Madhepura Police Nab Two Prisoners Who Escaped from JNKT Hospital

Two prisoners who escaped from the fifth floor of JNKT Medical College in Madhepura have been arrested by police, bringing an end to a tense manhunt that began after their dramatic flight.

The men, who were receiving treatment at the hospital, broke a grill pipe and used a bedsheet to climb down before running away. The development created panic within the police force, which quickly mobilised teams to track them down.

The escape has put a spotlight on the protection and supervision of prisoners within hospital premises.

Police have identified the two as Mo. Islam alias Mo. Jugnu, from Madheli Bazar Ward No. 12 under Shankarpur police station, and Mo. Hazar alias Abbu Hazar, from Ward No. 5 of Jajhat Sabaila panchayat under Sinheshwar police station.

Officials said the duo removed a grill pipe on the fifth floor and lowered themselves using a bedsheet, after which they slipped away from the site. The incident exposed weaknesses in the hospital's security set-up.

Following the escape, an SI-led team headed by Roshan Kumar conducted raids at several places. Mo. Jugnu was arrested from his sister's residence in Tengraha, while Mo. Hazar alias Abbu Hazar was caught in Chaura, located in Shankarpur block. Legal action against both has now been initiated.

What has especially shocked observers is that Mo. Jugnu had been scheduled for an operation the following day. Despite this, he was able to flee from the fifth floor. Questions are being raised about why the guards assigned to monitor the prisoners did not get any inkling of the plan.

Station House Officer Vinod Kumar Singh stated that both fugitives have been arrested and that further legal proceedings are being carried out.
