A shocking incident has emerged from Jehanabad, Bihar, where a man allegedly strangled his wife to death following a domestic dispute. In a desperate attempt to conceal his crime, the husband then sought hospital treatment, claiming he had been bitten by a snake. However, the truth began to unravel when the couple’s two disabled daughters communicated with their uncle, revealing the horrifying reality.
The incident took place in Sultanpur village within the Parsa Bigha police station area. After twelve years of marriage, the husband killed his wife, a mother of five children. The unfortunate event occurred on Thursday night. Police promptly arrested the suspect, Ranjan Das.
According to the police, the woman’s brother filed a case regarding the murder. The body of the deceased, Rinki Devi (34), was handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination at the Sadar Hospital. Rinki Devi’s brother, Bablu Kumar, a resident of Shankarganj village in the Kalpa police station area, reported that his sister had married Ranjan Das, a resident of Sultanpur village in the Parsa Bigha police station area, in 2013. They had five children, two of whom are disabled and unable to speak.
Bablu explained that his brother-in-law, Ranjan Das, worked as a laborer and was known for squandering money. His sister often confronted him about his wasteful spending habits, urging him to manage finances responsibly. These disagreements frequently led to quarrels between them. Rinki had been staying at her parents’ home in Shankarganj for several days to escape the conflict. On Thursday afternoon, her husband came to persuade her to return home. However, later that night, another dispute erupted, and the husband allegedly strangled her. He then fled the scene. The family learned of her death the following morning, and upon arriving at the scene, the two disabled nieces communicated the truth to their uncle through gestures. Subsequently, the family began searching for the husband, but he was nowhere to be found, and his family had also disappeared.
Later, the family learned that the husband had checked into a hospital, fabricating a story about a snakebite. The police were informed, and they arrested the suspect. The police have stated that the snakebite claim appears suspicious based on preliminary investigations, and further legal action is underway.
