Nawada Parents Protest After Headmaster Accused of Abuse

A wave of anger swept through the rural community of Nawada district on Friday when eight‑grade girls reported that the head of their school had subjected them to sexual molestation. The accused, Mahesh Prasad Yadav, a 52‑year‑old teacher from Bishunpur village, was alleged to have forced his hand on the students inside his office after promising to provide exam copies.

Parents, outraged by the allegations, gathered in large numbers at the Uttkramit Middle School, Anandpura. They locked the headmaster inside his office and demanded immediate police intervention. The situation remained volatile until the police, alerted via a 112 emergency call, arrived, pacified the crowd, and escorted the headmaster to the local police station.

The police have charged the accused under the POCSO Act and are conducting a detailed probe. They are also verifying whether similar misconduct had occurred in the past, as several students claimed the headmaster had previously lifted girls in his lap.

The administration has promised swift legal action based on the investigation results, while the community calls for stricter safety measures in schools across the state.
