The National Investigation Agency (NIA) apprehended the Bihar Pradesh President of the now-banned Popular Front of India (PFI) on Saturday in connection with the 2022 Fulwari Sharif criminal conspiracy case. The arrested individual, Mehboob Alam, also known as Mehboob Alam Nadvi, a resident of the Hasan Ganj area in the Katihar district of Bihar, was captured in Kishanganj. He is the 19th person to be arrested in this case, which initially saw local police registering a case against 26 individuals.
The PFI associates were involved in illegal and anti-national activities aimed at creating an atmosphere of terror by inciting religious animosity among members of different faiths and groups.
