Night Tragedy in Bihar: Dog Encounter Sparks Fatal Motorcycle Crash

A routine night ride turned into a fatal disaster in Nalanda after a motorcycle lost control while avoiding a stray animal. The horrifying crash took place Tuesday night on the Harhat police station zone, claiming three adolescent lives and injuring two others. The friends had spent the evening setting off firecrackers at home before deciding to go out together on a single scooter.

Traveling toward the Gonaon road intersection, the group approached pillar 51 on the national highway when a dog suddenly crossed their path. The driver attempted a rapid evasive maneuver, but the high speed of the bike made it impossible to maintain balance. The motorcycle flipped sideways and slammed into a concrete divider, throwing all five passengers onto the ground with catastrophic injuries.

Forensic and medical teams quickly identified the victims. The deceased include 19-year-old Gautam Kumar, son of the late Vilas Yadav from Subnahudihi village. Rounding out the fallen are 15-year-old Abhimanyu Manu and 13-year-old Anish Kumar, both residents of Adarsh Nagar in Harhat. The sudden death of the three friends has cast a long shadow over the neighborhood and their kin.

Triage efforts began at the Kalyan Bigaha Referral Hospital, where doctors declared Gautam and Abhimanyu clinically dead. Due to the severity of internal injuries, Anish, Amit, and Ravi were airlifted by ambulance to Biharsharif Sadar Hospital. Unfortunately, Anish’s condition deteriorated rapidly, and he did not survive the night. The remaining two boys, Amit Kumar and Ravi, are receiving intensive medical attention with doctors expressing cautious concern over their recovery prospects.

District administration officials have ordered a comprehensive probe into the accident. The local grocery shop run by the deceased brothers’ father in Harhat market was a familiar neighborhood spot, adding to the communal grief. Police have documented the scene and forwarded the remains for postmortem examinations. Officials emphasize that formal charges will be filed as soon as the family registers their official grievance, while safety guidelines for night riding are being emphasized locally.
