Only One ‘ONLY INDIA’ Watch Features Authentic Shergotty Martian Fragment

Four rubies, a peacock feather and a real piece of Mars – that is what defines the ONLY INDIA timepiece from Louis Moinet. The watch houses a certified sliver of the Shergotty meteorite, the same Martian rock that fell near the village of Gayaji (formerly Sherghati) in Bihar on 25 August 1865. The original stone weighed about five kilograms; today a minuscule portion is displayed on a dial crafted from 18‑carat red gold.

Beyond its exotic material, the watch showcases an intricately hand‑engraved 20‑spoke Ashoka Chakra, symbolising the eternal cycle of dharma. The dial’s backdrop features an actual peacock feather, linking the piece to India’s national bird. Mechanically, the watch runs on Louis Moinet’s LM‑35 movement, equipped with a tourbillon cage that makes a full rotation every minute, delivering a 72‑hour power reserve and a frequency of 3 Hz.

Louis Moinet describes the creation as a “unique timepiece” and lists its estimated market value at more than ₹2.1 crore. No official retail price has been released, but the rarity of a Martian meteorite fragment in a luxury watch guarantees that this will remain a singular collector’s item forever.
