Passengers Urged to Check Train Status Amid Delhi Station Traffic

A circular issued by Indian Railways on October 9 warned of heavy road congestion and security challenges around New Delhi (NDLS) and Hazrat Nizamuddin (NZM) stations on October 10, following a scheduled demonstration by the Cockroach Janata Party. The circular states that any mail or express train whose source departure is after 14:00 on October 9 and which is slated to reach either NDLS or NZM between 04:00 and 14:00 on October 10 will be cancelled at its origin. Trains departing before 14:00 on October 9 will continue to run as per the original timetable. The list of cancelled services comprises more than fifteen train numbers, including 15308 Sirsa‑Tilak Bridge, 12964 Udaipur City‑Hazrat Nizamuddin, 14727 Shri Ganganagar‑Tilak Bridge, 22221 Mumbai‑Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani, 20155 Dr Ambedkar Nagar‑New Delhi, 09309 Indore‑Hazrat Nizamuddin, 12415 Indore‑New Delhi, 12247 Bandra Terminus‑Hazrat Nizamuddin, 12957 Mumbai Central‑New Delhi, as well as the Howrah‑New Delhi (12301) and Siwalda‑New Delhi (12313) Rajdhani Expresses, the Ranchi‑Delhi Garib Rath Express and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus‑Hazrat Nizamuddin Express. Two Mumbai‑Delhi services – 12951 and 12953 – will still operate but with a five‑hour delay, pushing their arrivals into the later afternoon. Passengers traveling from Bihar (Patna‑Delhi Rajdhani, Sampoorna Kranti Express, Magadh Express) and Uttar Pradesh (Prayagraj Express 12417, Shiv Ganga Express 12559, Vaishali Express) are advised to verify if their trains fall under the cancellation window, as many of these daily services are scheduled to reach the capital within the affected timeframe. Navratri festivities begin on October 11, and the expected increase in pilgrim traffic may compound the already strained rail and road network. The railway urges all commuters to check the latest status on the official NTES portal before departing, to allow extra travel time for potential road jams near NDLS and NZM, and to consider alternative modes such as buses or flights where feasible.
