Patna City Tension After Minor's Death During Durga Idol Procession

Tension gripped parts of Patna City after a minor was killed in a shooting incident during a Durga idol immersion procession.

The incident happened at the Pashchim Darwaza crossing in the Khajekalan police station area. A sudden gunshot during the procession hit a teenage boy, who was critically injured. He was taken to a hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Police identified the deceased as Kundan Kumar. The shooting caused panic among participants, and the procession was thrown into disarray.

As news of the death spread, anger erupted among the public. Several vehicles, including a DJ trolley in the procession, were vandalised. Protesters also blocked the road, which led to long lines of idols and disrupted traffic in the area.

As the situation worsened, a large number of police personnel reached the spot. Police tried to control the crowd and clear the road, and a clash broke out between officers and the agitated people, further raising tension.

DSP Shiv Shankar Kumar personally drove vehicles and moved parked vehicles off the road to clear the path. Afterwards, the immersion procession resumed.

Police are investigating how Kundan Kumar was shot and who was involved. The motive and those responsible are yet to be clarified.
