A young woman in Patna has filed a case at the women’s police station against a PG student at NMCH, accusing him of love jihad, fraud, assault, and forced religious conversion. The woman claims the man, initially presenting himself as Hindu, deceived her and later pressured her to convert to Islam.
According to the complainant, she met Seraj, who went by the name ‘Sonu,’ three years ago during treatment. He gained her trust by participating in Chhath Puja rituals, claiming he performed them for her. He then pursued a relationship, promising marriage. However, after revealing his true identity, he began pressuring her to convert and subjected her to physical abuse. The victim alleges she was forced to eat beef and learn Islamic prayers and tenets. When she refused to convert, he married another woman. After learning of the marriage, she was allegedly attacked by the man’s family. Despite filing a complaint on June 14, the FIR was registered on June 19 after intervention from the DGP’s Janta Darbar. The woman claims the FIR does not include sections related to love jihad, despite the nature of the case. Police are investigating the matter.
