Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Bihar’s Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana via video conferencing. As part of the initiative, the first installment of Rs 10,000 each was directly transferred into the bank accounts of 75 lakh women beneficiaries. This transfer was intended to promote self-employment and bolster livelihoods. A total of Rs 7,500 crore was disbursed. The scheme, a project of the Bihar government, aims to empower women through self-employment and livelihood opportunities, fostering economic independence and social empowerment. Each beneficiary will initially receive Rs. 10,000 via Direct Benefit Transfer, with potential for further financial aid up to Rs. 2 lakh. The funds can be used in areas such as agriculture, animal husbandry, handicrafts, tailoring, weaving, and small-scale enterprises. The scheme will involve community resource persons from Self Help Groups providing training. Gramin Haat-Bazaars will be developed to support the sale of produce. The launch of the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana will feature a statewide program across multiple administrative levels.
