Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Bihar’s Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana through video conferencing. The initiative saw the direct transfer of an initial installment of Rs 10,000 each to the bank accounts of 75 lakh women beneficiaries, totaling Rs 7,500 crore. The scheme, a Bihar government initiative, aims to empower women through self-employment and livelihood opportunities. It offers financial assistance to one woman from each family, enabling them to start chosen employment activities. Beneficiaries can utilize the funds for agriculture, animal husbandry, handicrafts, tailoring, weaving, and other small-scale enterprises. The scheme also includes community-driven support through Self Help Groups and the development of Gramin Haat-Bazaars to aid in the sale of their products. The Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana launch featured a statewide program across various administrative levels, with over 1 crore women participating.
