Police Investigate Murder After Dogs Unearth Body in Dhanrajya River
Sirdala and Akbarpur police units responded to the scene after villagers reported the unusual activity of dogs fighting and digging near the riverbank. After clearing the sand, officers recovered the body of a married woman, later confirmed as Promila Devi of Dhobghati village.
Forensic experts collected samples and documented the site before the remains were transferred to the district hospital for autopsy. The investigation is now focusing on establishing the motive, with the police treating the case as a potential homicide.
Local sources say the body may have been buried under the sand for as long as four days. Investigators expect that the post‑mortem report and forensic analysis will clarify the cause of death and help identify any additional suspects.
