Police Launch Manhunt After Couple Murdered in Bihar Over Rs 1,000

Following the murder of a brick‑kiln laborer couple in Nalanda, Bihar, police have intensified their investigation and announced a full‑scale manhunt for the alleged killers. The couple was allegedly taken from their home by a gang demanding repayment of a ₹1,000 loan.

Witnesses reported that the victims were tied to a tree, beaten mercilessly, and then subjected to electric shocks. Surendra Manjhi died on the spot while his wife, Nauleja Devi, escaped by leaping through a window.

The police FIR lists Mukesh Yadav, Maanish, Dilkhush and Mauli Devi as primary suspects. Authorities have already conducted raids in suspected hideouts and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

The brutal nature of the crime has ignited public anger, with calls for swift legal action and stronger protection for vulnerable workers in the region.
