Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi engaged in a dialogue with women in Bihar, strongly criticizing the central and state governments. She addressed the recent launch of the Mahila Rozgar Yojana by the NDA government, which provided 10,000 rupees to women in the state before the Bihar assembly elections. Gandhi questioned the adequacy of this financial assistance, emphasizing the importance of women recognizing their inherent strength and demanding respect.
Gandhi urged the women to acknowledge their power, asserting that political parties are aware of their influence and are resorting to financial incentives due to the necessity of their support to form a government. She called on them to reject the 10,000 rupees, implying that the Bihar government does not value their dignity. Furthermore, she stated that the Congress party would work to ensure the respect and dignity of women in Bihar, offering them 25 lakh rupees in insurance coverage.
Gandhi highlighted the struggles women face, stating that they carry the burden of society. Praising Rahul Gandhi, she said he has fought for social justice across the country to secure the dignity of women. She urged the women to understand the situation before the upcoming elections, and to vote out the Nitish Kumar and BJP government, as a new government is needed for justice and respect.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana just before the Bihar elections. Through this scheme, 10,000 rupees were directly transferred to the bank accounts of 75 lakh women in Bihar, costing the state exchequer 7500 crore rupees. The Congress party has accused the NDA of trying to buy votes and devaluing the dignity of women by offering 10,000 rupees.
