Probe Finds Rs 2.38 Crore Assets Linked to Siwan’s Excise Officer

A recent Economic Offences Unit (EOU) investigation has linked roughly Rs 2.38 crore in assets to Ankesh Kumar Gonda, an excise inspector based in Siwan, Bihar. The inspector faces accusations of disproportionate wealth accumulation exceeding his declared salary by approximately 201 percent. Among the assets identified are a commercial plot in Munger valued at Rs 1.40 crore, a three-storey residence in Danapur costing close to Rs 80 lakh, and eight luxury vehicles registered to him and his immediate family. EOU teams executed simultaneous raids across five locations, confiscating land deeds, bank passbooks, and investment statements. Senior officers stated that any persons found complicit will be subject to rigorous prosecution, as the case underscores challenges in maintaining transparency within the prohibition department.
