A chaotic scene unfolded at the NDA’s assembly-level workers’ conference held in Nabinagar, Aurangabad, Bihar, on Sunday. Virendra Kumar Singh, a former MP and former MLA from the same seat, and Sanjeev Kumar Singh, another contender for the ticket, engaged in a heated confrontation on stage. The two became embroiled in an argument, exchanging accusations.
This led to a commotion on and around the stage for a while, with workers chanting slogans in support of Sanjeev Singh. BJP’s Aurangabad district in-charge Trivikram Narayan Singh and LJP (Ram Vilas) district president Chandrabhushan Singh alias Sonu Singh intervened to pacify the workers and the two leaders.
The former MLA, Virendra Singh, took exception when Sanjeev Singh arrived on stage with his supporters, who began shouting slogans in support of Sanjeev Singh. Virendra Singh became visibly agitated, and the atmosphere became tense for a short period. After the leaders moderating the event persuaded Sanjeev’s supporters to take their seats, the program was able to proceed.
However, the dispute did not end there. When JDU leader Surendra Singh praised former MLA Virendra Singh during his speech, Sanjeev Singh’s supporters erupted again, shouting slogans loudly. Angered by the slogans, the former MLA went to Sanjeev Singh on stage and confronted him. The exact words exchanged were inaudible.
Seeing the situation escalating, BJP’s Aurangabad district in-charge Trivikram Narayan Singh and LJP (Ram Vilas) district president Chandrabhushan Singh alias Sonu Singh stepped in to calm down both leaders and their supporters. The conference was able to return to normalcy after their intervention. Notably, while slogans were raised in support of Sanjeev Singh during the event, there was no such display of support for the former MLA.
