Political activity is intensifying in Bihar ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. Political parties are actively strategizing and forming alliances. The ruling NDA (National Democratic Alliance) is currently holding NDA workers’ conferences in various districts. However, these conferences have been marred by controversies. In the latest incident, a conference in Muzaffarpur witnessed a violent clash. Supporters of Janata Dal United (JDU) leader Prabhat Kiran and former Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) candidate Komal Singh engaged in a physical altercation, with chairs being thrown and numerous individuals injured.
The NDA workers’ conference was taking place on Thursday at Jarang High School in the Gaighat block of Muzaffarpur, when the incident occurred. Supporters of the two NDA allies clashed during the meeting. The conflict involved supporters of Janata Dal United (JDU) leader Prabhat Kiran and former Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) candidate Komal Singh. Prabhat Kiran is the son of former JDU MLA Maheshwar Yadav.
Following the physical clash, chairs were thrown. The altercation escalated into a violent clash. Both sides engaged in physical fighting, and supporters began throwing chairs at each other. Consequently, several chairs were broken. At least 12 people were injured in the violent clash.
It is reported that the ruckus at the NDA workers’ conference started when a leader made offensive remarks from the stage, which angered the workers present. The enraged workers first started throwing chairs and then began breaking them, leading to chaos at the conference venue.
Following the incident, the workers at the conference started shouting slogans like “Remove outsiders, save Gaighat,” creating a tense atmosphere. The angry workers started breaking chairs. The use of chairs as weapons caused people to flee the school premises.
Seeing the deteriorating situation, the police deployed at the scene attempted to control the situation. The leaders on the stage also tried to pacify the workers, but the sloganeering continued, disrupting the conference.
This is not the first instance of a ruckus at an NDA workers’ conference. Earlier, on September 21, a similar incident occurred at a workers’ conference in Sakatpur Buniyaad Vidyalaya, Ali Nagar assembly constituency, Darbhanga district. The disturbance was due to the perceived neglect of JDU workers by former BJP district president Vinay Paswan. Prior to that, a conference in Jamui was also marred by a scuffle between a minister and a former MLC on the stage.
