Several Injured, Two Critical, as Truck Hits Puja Procession in Bihar

The Vishwakarma Puja immersion procession, a traditional rite observed by youths from the nearby village of Ramdhira, turned tragic when a truck barreling down National Highway 2C slammed into their tractor. The collision caused the death of two participants and left more than five others with injuries ranging from fractures to severe head trauma.

Two of the injured have been transferred to a tertiary care facility in Varanasi, while the remaining victims are receiving treatment at Sasaram District Hospital and nearby private clinics. Medical staff reported that the severity of the injuries was exacerbated by the sudden impact and the lack of protective gear among the participants.

The loss has ignited a wave of grief throughout the locality, with families holding candlelit vigils and community elders urging authorities to enforce stricter traffic control measures during future religious events.
