In Paliganj, near Patna, Bihar, three siblings who had come to their maternal grandparents’ house to celebrate Raksha Bandhan died after consuming milk. The incident occurred in Khirimor village, under the Khiri Par police station. The children, who had arrived with their mother, experienced a sudden deterioration in their health on the night of Raksha Bandhan. Family members rushed them to a private hospital in Paliganj.
The doctor referred the children to Arwal Sadar Hospital for proper treatment, noting their condition. While receiving treatment, two of the children passed away. The third child died on Tuesday evening while undergoing treatment in Patna. The deceased children were siblings.
Their maternal grandfather, Kamlesh Thakur, is a resident of Khiripar village. The family had gathered at his house for Raksha Bandhan. On Monday night, everyone ate dinner, and the three children were also given milk. Shortly after drinking the milk, the children’s health rapidly declined. Seeing their worsening condition, the family immediately took them to a nearby private hospital.
From there, the doctor referred the children to Arwal Sadar Hospital. During treatment, two children died. The third child continued to receive treatment, but she also passed away on Tuesday evening. Kamlesh Thakur, the children’s maternal grandfather, stated that the children’s health suddenly deteriorated after drinking milk. Subsequently, 5-year-old Vikas Kumar and 3-year-old Mohit Kumar died in the hospital.
A girl named Nidhi Kumari was in serious condition. She was referred to PMCH for better treatment, where she also died. The milk was brought from the house of Rambabu Mahto, a resident of Khiri Par village in Paliganj. The condition of all three children began to deteriorate after drinking this milk. A team from the Food Safety Department is expected to arrive at the scene.
The three deceased children belonged to Mohan Thakur. Mohan works in a private job in Surat. A wedding ceremony for his brother-in-law, Ritesh Thakur, was being planned in the in-laws’ house, but now mourning has taken over the house.
