Silver Hits Rs 2.40 Lakh per Kg – What It Means for Investors
The silver market broke through the Rs 2.40 lakh per kilogram mark on the Multi Commodity Exchange, opening at Rs 2,42,999. This level represents a five‑month high and signals strong buying interest ahead of the Raksha Bandhan celebrations, when silver jewellery is a popular gift choice.
Over the last twelve months, silver has surged more than 76 percent, outpacing many traditional assets. City‑wise, the metal trades at Rs 2,60,000 per kilogram in Delhi, Noida, Jaipur, Patna, Kanpur, and Chandigarh, while Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad quote around Rs 2,59,900‑2,64,900.
For investors, the sustained price rise suggests a continued appetite for precious metals as an inflation hedge. However, the recent profit‑booking after the initial jump indicates that short‑term volatility may still be present. Keeping an eye on global monetary policy and domestic festive demand will be crucial for future price movements.
