South Bihar’s hilly terrain – covering Gaya, Rohtas, Jamui, Jehanabad, Banka and Bhagalpur – has revealed a diverse mineral portfolio. Apart from the base metals, deposits of rare‑earth elements such as neodymium and dysprosium are expected. These elements are critical for permanent‑magnet motors, wind‑turbine generators and advanced electronics. If extraction moves beyond the exploratory stage, manufacturers of EVs, renewable‑energy equipment and defense systems could source raw material domestically, cutting costs and shortening supply chains.
