A case originating from Muzaffarpur, Bihar, reached the Supreme Court concerning a dispute over a daughter-in-law’s occupation of her in-laws’ property. The Supreme Court dismissed the daughter-in-law’s petition, siding with the parents-in-law and upholding the decision of the Patna High Court. The daughter-in-law had been occupying the property in the Dighra area of the Sadar police station for a year. The court stated that the woman must reside in alternative accommodation provided by her husband. The issue began when the daughter-in-law occupied the shared house of her in-laws about one and a half years ago.
