As Bihar prepares for the 2025 Assembly elections, controversy has erupted over the state’s electoral roll. Allegations of irregularities, including the inclusion of deceased individuals and the omission of living citizens, have surfaced. A significant development involves Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, son of party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and a potential CM candidate, claiming his name is missing from the draft voter list. He asserted that despite submitting the necessary form during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, his name was not found. In response, the Patna district administration clarified that Yadav’s name is registered, but his polling station and serial number have been changed. Yadav questioned the situation, suggesting a conspiracy to exclude voters. JDU spokesperson Neeraj Kumar labeled Yadav a “political fraud,” while the Election Commission refuted the claim, stating Yadav’s name is present in the draft electoral roll. The Commission’s statement highlighted that Yadav’s name appears at Serial Number 416. With the SIR underway and a deadline for objections set, the matter has heightened the political tensions in Bihar.
