Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav narrowly escaped injury on Saturday morning when a speeding truck collided with his convoy near Goraul in Bihar’s Vaishali district. The incident occurred as the former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister was returning to Patna after a political event in Madhepura.
The convoy had paused for a brief tea break along the Patna-Muzaffarpur highway around 12:30 AM. While Yadav was a short distance away, enjoying his tea, the truck struck the stationary vehicles of his security detail. Fortunately, his personal vehicle was not hit, and he remained unharmed.
However, the collision resulted in injuries to three security officials, who were immediately transported to a nearby hospital. Yadav visited them after the accident to check on their condition. The injured officials, who sustained minor fractures and significant bruising, are now reported to be stable.
The local police apprehended the truck driver at the scene and impounded the vehicle. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident, with initial reports suggesting potential speeding or driver fatigue. This incident has once again raised concerns about the safety of political figures during long-distance travel on Bihar’s roads, especially at night.
RJD supporters took to social media, expressing relief at Yadav’s safety and calling for enhanced road safety measures and stricter traffic rule enforcement. Party leaders have also demanded a thorough review of VIP security protocols for road travel, particularly in low-visibility conditions.
Despite the incident, Tejashwi Yadav has resumed his normal activities and assured his supporters of his well-being.
