Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav narrowly avoided a serious car accident on Saturday morning. A speeding truck struck two vehicles in his convoy near Goraul in Vaishali district. The incident occurred while he was returning to Patna after a political rally in Madhepura.
The convoy had stopped for a brief tea break along the Patna-Muzaffarpur highway around 12:30 AM. Yadav was a short distance away, having tea, when the truck crashed into the stationary security vehicles. Fortunately, his personal vehicle was not hit, and he was unharmed.
The impact of the collision resulted in injuries to three security officials, who were promptly taken to a nearby hospital. Yadav visited them following the accident to check on their condition. The injured officials are now in stable condition, despite suffering significant bruising and minor fractures.
The local police apprehended the truck driver at the scene and took the truck into custody. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, with initial reports suggesting potential factors like speeding or driver drowsiness. However, a comprehensive investigation is underway to determine the exact cause.
This incident has amplified concerns regarding the safety of political figures during long-distance travel on Bihar’s roads, especially during nighttime hours. RJD supporters expressed relief on social media, while others advocated for enhanced road safety measures and improved traffic rule enforcement.
Party leaders have called for a thorough review of VIP security protocols on the road, particularly in situations with limited visibility and during late-night travel.
Tejashwi Yadav, known for his active political schedule and extensive travel across Bihar, has resumed his normal activities and assured his supporters that he is safe and unaffected.
