Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav narrowly avoided a serious car accident on Saturday morning. A speeding truck collided with two vehicles in his convoy near Goraul in Vaishali district. The incident occurred while he was returning to Patna from a political rally in Madhepura.
The convoy had halted for a brief tea break along the Patna-Muzaffarpur highway at approximately 12:30 AM. Yadav was a short distance away when the truck struck the stationary vehicles of his security detail. Fortunately, his personal vehicle was not hit, and he was unharmed.
Three security officials sustained injuries in the crash and were immediately taken to a nearby hospital. Yadav visited the injured officials to check on their condition. The injured officials are now reported to be stable, though they suffered bruises and minor fractures.
The local police arrested the truck driver at the scene and impounded the truck. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, with initial reports suggesting speeding or driver fatigue.
The incident has reignited concerns regarding the safety of political figures during long-distance travel on Bihar’s roads, especially late at night. RJD supporters expressed relief on social media, while others called for improved road safety and stricter traffic rule enforcement. Party leaders have urged a comprehensive review of VIP security protocols on the roads.
Tejashwi Yadav, known for his active political schedule and frequent travels across Bihar, has resumed his normal activities and reassured his followers of his well-being.
