Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav narrowly avoided a serious accident on Saturday morning when a speeding truck hit two vehicles in his convoy near Goraul, Vaishali district. The incident occurred while Yadav was returning to Patna from a political event in Madhepura.
The convoy had halted for a brief tea break on the Patna-Muzaffarpur highway around 12:30 AM. While Tejashwi Yadav was a short distance away, having tea, the truck struck the stationary vehicles carrying his security personnel. Fortunately, his personal vehicle was untouched, and he remained unharmed.
The crash resulted in injuries to three security officials, who were immediately taken to a nearby hospital. Yadav visited them after the accident, expressing concern and inquiring about their condition. The injured officials are now in stable condition, despite suffering from significant bruises and minor fractures.
The local police apprehended the truck driver at the scene and took the truck into custody. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident. Initial reports suggest potential factors such as speeding or driver fatigue, but a full investigation is underway.
This incident has renewed safety concerns regarding the security of political figures during long-distance travel on Bihar roads, especially during late-night hours. RJD supporters quickly took to social media, expressing relief at Yadav’s safety and calling for improved road safety measures and stricter traffic rule enforcement.
Party leaders have called for a comprehensive review of VIP security protocols on the road, particularly under challenging conditions such as poor visibility.
Tejashwi Yadav, known for his active political schedule and extensive travel across Bihar, has resumed his normal activities and assured his supporters of his well-being.
