RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has received another letter from the Patna district administration regarding his voter ID card. The administration stated that Yadav has not yet submitted his second voter ID card for investigation, as mentioned by him in a press conference. The district administration had previously requested Yadav’s second ID card on August 2 for investigation, but he has yet to provide it. The Election Commission initially found this voter ID to be invalid.
Furthermore, the Election Commission has appealed to all political parties and voters to come forward and contribute to the creation of a clean voter list, as there is still time to file claims and objections. The commission is committed to conducting fair elections and believes that removing ineligible voters and including eligible ones is the core principle of the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign.
Tejashwi Yadav’s valid EPIC number is RAB0456228. However, the EPIC number RAB2916120 that he shared in the press conference has no record. Therefore, the Election Commission has issued a notice to Tejashwi, requesting the original copies of his voter ID cards. This matter has caused a stir in state politics before the assembly elections.
The controversy began when Tejashwi Yadav claimed that his name was not in the draft voter list. He shared the EPIC number RAB2916120, which, upon searching, displayed a ‘no record found’ message. Following this, the Election Commission issued a statement confirming that his name was indeed on the draft voter list.
The Election Commission clarified that Tejashwi Yadav’s name is listed with the EPIC number RAB0456228 (Patliputra constituency, polling station 204, serial number 416). He used this EPIC number in the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections. His second EPIC number is not in the records and may be fake.
The Election Commission is currently investigating the matter. The commission has sent another notice to Tejashwi Yadav, seeking clarification regarding the RAB2916120 number. However, no response has been received from him. Previously, Tejashwi described this as a political conspiracy and stated that his EPIC number had been changed.
