Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav was involved in a close call when a speeding truck collided with his convoy in Vaishali district. The incident occurred early Saturday morning on the Patna-Muzaffarpur highway, where the convoy had stopped for a brief tea break. While Yadav was a short distance away, the truck struck several vehicles belonging to his security detail. Fortunately, Yadav’s personal vehicle was unaffected, and he was unharmed.
The collision resulted in injuries to three security personnel, who were promptly taken to a nearby hospital. Yadav visited them after the accident to check on their condition. While they sustained bruises and minor fractures, their condition is now stable. Local police apprehended the truck driver at the scene and impounded the vehicle. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident, with reports suggesting possible speeding or driver fatigue.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of political figures during long-distance travel in Bihar, particularly at night. RJD supporters expressed relief on social media, while others emphasized the need for improved road safety measures and stricter traffic rule enforcement. Party leaders have called for a comprehensive review of VIP security protocols on roads, specifically addressing conditions with limited visibility.
Tejashwi Yadav, known for his active political schedule and extensive travel within Bihar, has resumed his routine and assured his followers that he is safe.
