The devastating floods in Bhagalpur, Bihar have wreaked havoc in the low-lying areas. Homes are still inundated with water, rising above the waist in some places. People are forced to live on the roofs of their houses, sheltering under plastic sheets and tarpaulins. They are even keeping their livestock with them in these makeshift shelters. Many residents are compelled to wade through chest-deep water to move around.
