A brazen act of theft has occurred at the residence of a BJP MLA in Bihar, highlighting the audacity of criminals targeting even high-profile areas. The incident took place at 12, Circular Road, within the jurisdiction of the Secretariat Police Station. The stolen items include fans, coolers, and even the taps.
The residence belongs to Murari Prasad Gautam, who was a minister in the Mahagathbandhan government representing the Congress. Gautam’s home is situated in a high-security area, with the Chief Minister’s residence directly opposite and the former Chief Minister Rabri Devi’s residence nearby. Gautam later switched allegiance to the NDA and joined the BJP, becoming a legislator.
Upon discovering the theft on June 22, Gautam reported the incident. Besides the fans and coolers, the thieves also made off with the bed and water taps. He suspects the involvement of individuals with substance abuse issues.
A formal complaint has been filed with the police, and an investigation is underway. Gautam has expressed concerns about anti-social elements in the vicinity and has requested action against them, stating that such thefts are likely the work of individuals residing in nearby shantytowns.
